刮痧 Gua Sha

For the relief of aching muscles, for blood circulation and detoxification

Indications & Areas of Application

Gua Sha is a traditional manual treatment method within Traditional Chinese Medicine. It involves the repeated scraping of the skin with a smooth-edged tool to stimulate circulation, release muscle tension, and support the body’s natural healing processes. In our practice in Zurich, Gua Sha is applied individually depending on the condition and is often used for muscular and functional complaints.

Today, Gua Sha is increasingly used in integrative medicine as a complementary therapy and is often combined with Tuina, acupuncture, or cupping.

How Gua Sha Works (TCM Explanation)
According to the concept of Qi, Gua Sha aims to release blockages in the flow of energy and blood, helping to restore balance in the body. From a modern perspective, it is associated with increased local blood flow, stimulation of connective tissue, and activation of the body’s natural repair mechanisms.
