艾灸 Moxibustion

For stimulation of blood and Qi flow using moxa sticks

Indications & Areas of Application

Moxibustion is a traditional heat therapy within Traditional Chinese Medicine. It involves the controlled burning of dried mugwort (moxa) near or on specific acupuncture points to apply therapeutic heat and stimulate the body’s regulatory processes. In our practice in Zurich, moxibustion is used individually, often in combination with acupuncture or Tuina.

Today, moxibustion is also used in integrative medicine as a supportive treatment, especially for cold-related conditions, fatigue, and functional disorders.

How Moxibustion Works (TCM Explanation)
According to the concept of Qi, moxibustion strengthens Yang energy and dispels cold from the body. The application of heat helps to harmonize the flow of energy and support organ function. From a modern perspective, it promotes blood circulation, stimulates metabolism, and supports muscle relaxation.

Important Information
Moxibustion can be a valuable supportive treatment for various conditions. However, it does not replace medical diagnosis or necessary medical treatment and is often used as a complementary therapy alongside other forms of care.
